In
another article, I shared with you one of the techniques I use to study
the Psalms. I would like to share another Chapter of Psalms that
I have "reinterpreted". I decided to do Psalm 33 this
week and next week because Psalm 33:3 is the foundational Scripture
that Heath Jarvis Ministries is founded on. I'm spreading
this chapter over two articles because it is a little longer (22 verses).
If you have not already read "A Deeper Look at the Psalms - Psalm
Chapter 1", I would suggest you do that first, because in it I
explain what technique I use in studying Psalms. It will make
this article a little more easy to understand. Having said that,
here's Psalm 33:1-11.
Psalm 33:1-11 (King James Version)
1)
Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.
2) Praise the Lord with harp: sing unto Him with the
psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.
3)
Sing unto Him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.
4)
For the Word of the Lord is right; and all His works are done in truth.
5)
He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness
of the Lord.
6)
By the Word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them
by the breath of His mouth.
7)
He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up
the depth in storehouses.
8)
Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world
stand in awe of Him.
9)
For He spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
10)
The Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: He maketh
the devices of the people of none effect.
11)
The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of His heart
to all generations.
Psalm
33:1-11 (Heath's Version)
1)
Let out a rejoicing cry or shout or sing aloud unto the Self-existent,
eternal God and Lord Who is our Redeemer, the most intense and passionate
God all you just, lawful and righteous people. Singing in a clamorously
foolish manner until you are beside yourself is suitable and beautiful
for those who are straight, upright and pleasing to God, those who meet
his requirements, those who fit the bill.
2)
Stretch forth your hands, cast off your burdens, and worship and revere
the Self-existent, eternal God and Lord Who is our Redeemer, the most
intense and passionate God with the twangy sound of a harp. Gracefully
sing and play the lyre or psaltery in much the same way as a gazelle
gracefully runs and jumps. Do this also with the chords of an instrument
of ten strings.
3)
Take a musical and lyrical stroll with him and wander musically like
a traveling merchant by singing and improvising a fresh, brand-new cheerful
song. Beat out a tune and make music that is performed well and is skillfully
and beautifully crafted and thoroughly and diligently designed to be
acceptable and better than others. And do it all loudly as though you
were making a clamorous battle cry, or blowing an alarm with a trumpet,
or making a high sounding shout of rejoicing.
4)
The spoken words, declarations, matters of business, promises, and advice
of the Self-existent, eternal God and Lord Who is our Redeemer, the
most intense and passionate God are also straight, upright, and pleasing
to God; they meet his requirements and fit the bill. His operations,
accomplishments, and all of the things He does are established as trustworthy,
faithful, stable, true, and firm with utmost security and fidelity.
5)
He has great love and amorous affection for rightness, justice and prosperity
and also for lawful verdicts and orderly sentencing, whether favorable
or unfavorable. the earth is full and complete like one who is satisfied
after a meal because of the Self-existent, eternal God and Lord Who
is our Redeemer, the most intense and passionate God.
6)
The spoken words, declarations, matters of business, promises, and advice
of the Self-existent, eternal God and Lord Who is our Redeemer, the
most intense and passionate God are what made the sky and outer space.
And the mass of His army of soldiers who wait for summoning to be appointed
for warfare were made by a violent burst of breath forming words from
His mouth.
7)
He gathers together or collects as a heap the individual waters and
springs into a roaring sea that is one mound or heap of a wave. He gives
or assigns specifically the roaring depth of an abyss to a depository
or store house of treasure.
8)
The earth should fully and fearfully revere the terribleness of the
Self-existent, eternal God and Lord Who is our Redeemer, the most intense
and passionate God. Those that dwell in or are married to this habitable
world should stop for awhile just to stand in awe of Him and to assemble
fearfully as those nervously and anxiously awaiting battle.
9)
He made a constitution of law and order in which commands, charges,
and appointments were given, and they still stand fast and endure as
they are still firm and have been forever ordained.
10)
The Self-existent, eternal God and Lord Who is our Redeemer, the most
intense and passionate God takes the deliberations, advice, counsel,
and purpose of the heathen and Gentile nations and peoples and crushes
them similarly to grapes being crushed in a wine press. He takes the
plots, fabrications, imaginations, intentions, plans, and contrivances
of tribes and even nations of people and disallows them by neutralizing
them as being forbidden and refused.
11)
The deliberations, advice, counsel, and purpose of the Self-existent,
eternal God and Lord Who is our Redeemer, the most intense and passionate
God stand fast and endure as they are still firm and have been forever
ordained and are perpetual and without end or beginning. The plots,
fabrications, imaginations, intentions, plans, and contrivances that
originate in His heart, mind, intellect, will, and wisdom will remain
for all generations and all posterity forever.
